Highlights March promotion....Kel Elliot

Uplifting, wry, bluesy jazz from an exciting quartet. “A singer-songwriter with the unusual distinction of being a double bass player; her songs are upbeat in every sense- lyrically optimistic and musically infectious. Stylistically, the sound is richly produced bluesy cafe-jazz...you’ll be hearing more about Kel.” - The Performing Rights Society

Kel is a double-bass playing sassy jazz singer who takes her life experiences – and her views on the state of the nation - and hammers them out on stage with humour, irony, and a touch of mischief. Her big voice and the ecstatic support of guitar, keyboards, and percussion from her talented band have audiences dancing in the aisles, offering thundering applause, and crying out for ‘more!’

Inspired by a diverse range of artists from Tom Waits to Ella Fitzgerald to Bonnie Raitt to Michelle Shocked, Kel’s vocals are distinctly rich and powerful, ballsy and sweet, but it is the impressive combination of voice and double bass that sets her apart from her contemporaries The band has wowed audiences from Ireland to Finland and from art centres to rural touring schemes.
